This song should always be read at Passover, the time of the Resurrection, every year.
Son 1:1 The song of songs, which is Solomon’s.
Solomon was the wisest of all men, and we today can have that knowledge when we study God’s Word. We fall in love with the Word of God, as our bridegroom Jesus Christ falls in love with us. This is how we can understand the emotions of our Heavenly Father for us, and eventually how we also return that love.
Shulamite Girl: Son 1:2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.
The girl here is symbolic of the Elect. The mouth is put for the Words given from it. Our husband, Jesus, has testified many promises in His Word, He has lead us into ALL truth, and once we realize that it is for us, the elect, our hearts are overflowed with the love he has. It is so real and so effective upon our countenance the effect is similar to wine upon the body.
Shulamite Girl:Son 1:3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.
Shulamite comes from Shunim (BDB 7766 – a DOUBLE resting place). This indicates the ELECT have a Double portion, just like Elisha received from Elijah, and also pictured in the two good churches of Revelation (Smyrna & Philadelphia). Smyrna basically means “myrrh ointment”, and their witness will help others to see, as that healing salve.
G4666 smoor’-nah Apparently strengthened for G3464; myrrh: – myrrh.
G3464 : “myrrh”, that is, (by implication) perfumed oil: – ointment.
She rejoices in the NAME of her lover. As the Elect, we also rejoice and celebrate His name:
Isa 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
Isa 12:3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
Isa 12:4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that His name is exalted.
Isa 12:5 Sing unto the LORD; for He hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
Notice God is the LORD JEHOVAH. They are ONE entity, Who we not only obtain salvation, but also worship HIS NAME (only ONE name). This is where the wells of water come forth. This ONE so named is the ONE who created everything!
Just Like Zech 14:9 says there shall be ONE LORD, and His NAME ONE.
Shulamite Girl: Son 1:4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright (one) love(d) thee.
God’s love is more memorable than the memory of intoxication. Once you experience God’s Word in a way that will cause you to never forget His loving promises.
Shulamite Girl: Son 1:5 I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
Black here means tanned skin, and “comely” means beautiful. The tents of Kedar were beautiful. She is proud about her beauty, this is similar to the ELECT who have pride in their knowledge of the Word of God (Jer 9:24).
Shulamite Girl: Son 1:6 Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.
Some people are angry with the Elect because they have this pride. They attempt to separate the Elect from the source of their pride, that is God’s Holy Word. They in fact are jealous of the “Son of God” shining down upon them. Our vineyard is the Word of God where all truth is found. They try to judge and condemn us for such study.
Rom_8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom_8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Shepherd: Son 1:7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?
The Shepherd wants to know where she will be to meet her. In our analogy, we are anxious to meet the Lord, as He is to meet us where we are in our life. He doesn’t come to “upbraid” us as James 1:5 confirms, but He comes to us to give us His love, that which He promised us in His Word.
Shepherd: Son 1:8 If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents.
Here He is saying, “Keep looking for ME.” The Elect search day in and out, His Word because His love given therein is as intoxicating as wine.
Shepherd: Son 1:9 I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots.
Pharoah’s chariots were always magnificent in beauty. This ancient compliment, meant she is capable, she is sturdy, she is fast. There is a passage in the book of Job (Job 39:19-25) that gives the eloquence of the war horses, and there determination to go into battle willingly and without fear. This is the example of the Elect, the lover that is a “CAN-DO” type person, spiritually speaking.
Shepherd: Son 1:10 Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.
You are so ladylike, so stately. Again, the Elect have many blessings both spiritually and literally from our Shepherd. This is the way God sees His Elect, even if you have flaws. There are so many passages where God is angry with people (like in the book of Jeremiah), but this is the one special occurrence of His pure love pouring forth to His beatiful Bride, the Elect.
Shepherd: Son 1:11 We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.
We will have everything just right for you, even the quarters.
Joh_14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Shulamite Girl: Son 1:12 While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.
This perfume is made of spikenard. The woman with the Alabaster box was the ONLY one in the room who KNEW Christ would die on the Cross soon, and she anointed Him for the process. Soon, during the end days, the Elect will be the only ones with the precious ointment, and also the only ones with the knowledge of the false christ coming first, even in a room full of Apostles and prophets, ONLY this woman KNEW what prophecy was about to happen.
Mar 14:3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

Shulamite Girl: Son 1:13 A bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts.
The Word of God, as it is “sweet kisses”, and a bundle of Myrrh would be very valuable but not for the price of money, but because of the great COMFORT and warmth it lends to one who receives it. The Elect look forward to the reading of His word, as comforting and sweet as snuggling with the one you love every moment together. God gives us an analogy we can clearly understand.
Can anything separate us from THIS great love?
Shepherd: Son 1:14 My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of Engedi.
Camphire is actually a Cypress (Hosea 14:8), an evergreen which is ETERNAL, this is not a one night stand or a love “affair”, but one kind of eternal love bestowed upon the Elect. Engedi, which means the fountain of the kid. The vineyard is Christ and we (the Elect) are the branches. The Living water comes, again, from Christ, the Vine.
Shepherd: Son 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes.
The dove, is symbolic of the Holy Spirit, and the Shepherd knows that His love can SEE the truth given by the Holy Spirit upon the reading of His Word.
Shepherd: Son 1:16 Behold, thou art fair, My beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.
This is a compliment to the Elect. There is no need to scorn or deride her, or rebuke her, because she has that “Spikenard” the ointment of faith, the ointment that heals the eyes to see (Rev 3:18). She carries it, and gives it to those churches in Revelation who need rebuking, and who need this great healing eyesalve witch she possesses, as it is written for the church of Smyrna (Myrrh ointment).
Shepherd: Son 1:17 The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.
A fir tree doesn’t shed it’s leaves in the winter time, and He is eternally our “house” and our warmth.
