Jer 51:33 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

The harvest time has continually been understood as the end of this age, when Christ returns to take His FIRST RIPE fruit unto Himself. The harvest will come, and the threshing will take place, so that the fruit can come forth.

 
 

Jer 51:34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.

 
 

The oldest Hebrew text reads, not “me” but “us”, those who are being thrashed. The King of Babylon, as the fake Messiah will do all of these things.

 
 

Jer 51:35 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.

The “blood” shall be upon the INHABITANTS of Chaldea (or Babylon/Confusion) because it is THERE that the source or heart of confusion came from, i.e. the kenites, who welcome and love the false messiah.

 
 

Jer 51:36 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

God, using His elect will destroy, the confusion for EVER!

Jer 51:37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

We know this is future. A small note on heaps here, that Babylon’s sins will also be heaped upon them, as expressed in Isaiah 2:11-17

Jer 51:38 They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions’ whelps.

Jer 51:39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD.

God is going to let them dig their own hole, make their own bed.

Jer 51:40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.

It will not make any difference what their position is in the eyes of men. God will still correct them and stop them from further confusing people.

Jer 51:41 How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!

Sheshach is not a real place, since that is the case, God is signifying first the future generation, and second the CONFUSION in which satan and his kenites will impart.

This is the deeper meat of God’s Word, and it IS important to know who Sheshach is. The only way to know is to understand the Massoretic notes on the cryptogram, and that makes two crypotgrams in ONE chapter! An in depth chapter, and an in depth book, this one called Jeremiah. See Jer 25:26 note in the Companion Bible.

Jer 51:42 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

The waves of confusion will wash over you if you are part of Babylon/Sheshach, satan defacto.

Jer 51:43 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby.

Her cities were full and full of buildings, but eventually, as Christ said, not one stone shall be left standing upon one another! There is a time when confusion will be destroyed.

Jer 51:44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

Bel is the king of Babylon, eventually it will be satan himself. Whatever he has said in LIES or DECEPTION will be brought down. God will not put up with lies, or even gossip. Eventually, the gossip WILL BE REMOVED along with all the lies they told to complete their gossip.

Jer 51:45 My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.

God commands us to come out from confusion, and also gossip! If lies come out of your mouth regarding another person then you’d better stop right there, or you will have to EAT your own words.

Jer 51:46 And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

Don’t let rumours and gossip rule your land, because one year it shall be revealed what was said in secret, and if it be lies, God will not be happy. In the prophetic sense, this is the rumour of the one world system that will come right before the deadly wound spoken of in Rev. 13.

Jer 51:47 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.

This is prophetic of the spiritual death to come for all those who don’t care to read God’s Word and understand it.

Jer 51:48 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.

The spoilers are also the Bruisers (ships of Chittim) mentioned in the book of Daniel. As it is written, God said I will use YOU to break in pieces the confusion. This lines up with the Ships of the Bruisers coming with God as their leader to break apart that great city of confusion and gossip!

Jer 51:49 As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.

This verse speaks of Israel, not just Judah, because it is prophetic of the group of ELECT (of ANY tribe or race) to come in the last days who will operate with the sole power of the Holys Spirit to break apart LIES and CONFUSION.

Jer 51:50 Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

Always watch Jerusalem, it is the barometer of prophecy in the end times. God took her to wife in Ezekiel 16, so we need to watch her to know where we are in prophecy.

Jer 51:51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD’S house.

Go back to Jeremiah 7, which explains exactly what is going on in the Temple of the Lord, and even the sanctuaries of today. The doctrines are not of God, they are written of in Revelation 2 & 3.

Jer 51:52 Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.

Eventually, when the people see what they have done, spreading lies, gossip, and rumors in the land, they will groan, and wish they had not done such evil rumors.

Jer 51:53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from Me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.

This word spoilers in the Hebrew is SHADAD and it means IMPREGNABLE. They can’t be impregnated with lies. Nothing will creep in, not lies, not gossipy lies, not false words, they are the ELECT, and it is written in Mark 13 that you will be delivered up and the Holy Spirit will say PERFECT words from HIM.

Jer 51:54 A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:

She’s going down.

Jer 51:55 Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:

Babylon has a LOT to say, they even sing for her little sayings in verse 48, where she is praised and praised for all her lies and gossip! It seems her voice is the greatest when these fallacies are taught and repeated, the bruisers shall arise, and their voice will be uttered like the thunder of God! He is going to make some REAL lightning not all this fake stuff they’ve passed off as truth.

Jer 51:56 Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.

Their weapons shall not prosper. What is their weapons? Their MOUTH. Whatever they have spoken will come back to them, they’d better be careful, that what they speak is of God and of Scripture, for there is the ONLY place we can rest and know that God is our strength. He will not strengthen LIES, not in any form, whether doctrine or gossip, it just won’t stand.

Jer 51:57 And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

Her leaders will be made drunk. Don’t lead the cause of confusion! Don’t lend to her ways and her arrows! God will bring ALL her methods to control the people down to the ground.

Jer 51:58 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.

They labor in vain. It is written:

Psa_127:1 A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Don’t go build a house of LIES! It may take a lot of work to build a case against someone, but that doesn’t make it true, and it certainly is NOT righteous. Their deeds are NOT gold, gossip NEVER is, and it will burn in that Holy consuming fire of the Lord God Almighty! They will be tested by that fire, and there will be very little left.

Jer 51:59 The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.

If you translate these names, you get a great deal more here. Seraiah means the “God has prevailed”, Neriah “lamp of God”, Zedekiah “judgment and justice”, and Seraiah “Yahaveh has prevailed”.

Jer 51:60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.

Why read all the words of Jeremiah? It dispels confusion for those who have ears to hear.

Jer 51:61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read ALL these words;

Don’t read PART of it, don’t just take PART of this great work, but understand ALL of it, all that is written from the LORD.

Jer 51:62 Then shalt thou say, O LORD, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

 
 

Jer 51:63 And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:

Euphrates means “the good and abounding river”, and the river/water is symbolic of people. God is saying to fix the word of Jeremiah and THROW IT AT THOSE PEOPLE. Let it sink into their minds and hearts, that God has spoken, and they have no choice to listen, when one day He returns they will realize it and know what they have done.

Jer 51:64 And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

It’s a stumbling block to her, the very Words of Almighty God, trip her up, because all she wants to do is believe lies and gossip from the mouth of some “mighty man” or leader. These words of Jeremiah are applicable to today, better let them SINK into your mind and heart, so that you are not surprised when they come to pass AS IT IS WRITTEN.

 

Jer 51:1 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against Me, a destroying wind;

Babylon here is prophetically speaking of the confusion coming out of the masses of confused people. God is AGAINST the CITY and those who DWELL (or agree with) there.

DWELL DEFINITION yaw-shab’

A primitive root; properly to sit down (specifically as judge, in ambush, in quiet); by implication to dwell, to remain; causatively to settle, to marry.

Anyone who agrees with the teachings coming out of the world is “dwelling” with those doctrines, and God is AGAINST them too.

They DWELL “in the MIDST” of them. Is this a physical place where they dwell, like a city or a street? Well these words in HEBREW are actually a cryptogram!

When you work the cryptogram, instead of the words “in the MIDST” you have the “Chaldeans”, and it means People that are PARTICIPATING in Babylon or those those that are in the midst of THE confusion, in the futurist sense of the end times.

We also see here a “people” WITHIN a people! OR CERTAIN people from WITHIN Babylon, or the HEART of the controversy! We ARE talking about the kenites who bring about this confusion in the spiritual sense.

God doesn’t like CONFUSION which causes people to ambush each-other like the kenites would do to us if they could. This is basically EVIL FIGS, and when a true Christian sees this kind of activity, just like Jeremiah, THEY RECOGNIZE it and SEE IT.

Jeremiah looked and saw those bad nasty figs, based on HOW THEY BEHAVED. Thank you Father, for telling us that AT the HEART OF CONFUSION is this very Kenite methodology. WE TOO can recognize the BAD FIGS just like Jeremiah DID!

Jer 51:2 And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.

A fanner is one who thrashes the grain. Someone would take the wheat and cast it into the air and the wind would blow away the chaff.

The fanners shall EMPTY the LAND. In verse one we had the “destroying wind”, and now we have the fanners blowing away the chaff OUT of the LAND.

When we look at the OUTLINE of Jeremiah, Jeremiah 1:10

See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms,

to root out,

and to pull down,

and to destroy,

and to throw down,

to build, and to plant.

That’s 6 actions AGAINST the world & the LAND.

If we follow the outline, the first stage is to ROOT OUT. This is necessary because the kenites are at the HEART of all this confusion, and they also are located in a master location, Israel. Once they are removed the LAND will be EMPTY. What LAND could this be referring to? In the futurist sense, the King of Babylon (satan) will be ruling in the LAND of Jerusalem.

This verse pictures so many in the LAND that are chaff, that it will be EMPTY when they are removed. It doesn’t say that something will be leftover, but EMPTY, those are not my Words, but God’s Words and we must heed the emphasis that God has placed upon it. If He says “EMPTY” then I say EMPTY! Just like in Jeremiah 10:20 where ALL her children are GONE, and NO ONE IS left to set up the Temple of the LORD.

We know that God will return and put HIS people in the LAND, that is the PLANT part. Which is the LAST part, just like the 7th trump is the LAST TRUMP. It is really beautiful to see Revelation tied into this.

Jer 51:3 Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.

 

This should be translated “NOT ONLY” the archers will be destroyed, but utterly the whole host.

Jer 51:4 Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.

They aren’t going to escape the confusion. It is a spiritual death that they are experiencing.

Jer 51:5 For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.

Both HOUSES are NOT forgotten! EVEN though their LAND is filled with sin. That LAND is Judah, which He chose and married in Ezekiel 16.

Jer 51:6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD’S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.

Deliver his SOUL, not the flesh body. God wants your heart, not your bloodline.

Jer 51:7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD’S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

The golden cup brings us right up to Revelation. This future and coming King of Babylon affects the ENTIRE EARTH, not just the land of Judah.

Jer 51:8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

Suddenly is the key here. In the futurist sense, it will happen in a moment at the 7th trump.

Jer 51:9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

We “would” have, meaning we wanted to help them! We tried to help them, but she wouldn’t have any part of it, and was not healed. At that point, we have to let it go, God will come, and His judgment will make everything right.

Jer 51:10 The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

The very bringing forth of the Word of God dispels confusion because lies cannot stand.

Jer 51:11 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of His temple.

Sharpen your arrows of truth, which is the Word of God. His Temple is God’s elect. The third step in the Jer 1:10 outline is to DESTROY Babylon, and God will use His elect in part to execute His vengeance.

Jer 51:12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which He spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.

What is that standard? The Word of God! The Watchmen are recording the passage of benchmarks that take place, and as it gets close they sound the alarm.

Jer 51:13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

A direct reference to Revelation 17 of mystery Babylon. Revelation also discusses in chapter 11 how John is to measure the Temple.

Jer 51:14 The LORD of hosts hath sworn by Himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.

Caterpillers are locust. We know who the locust army is, and what they are saying against our God and against our country. It is happening.

Jer 51:15 He hath made the earth by His power, He hath established the world by His wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

As sure as God created the earth, He will close this dispensation when mystery Babylon comes to her full, and the locusts swarm over the land. God has the wisdom to complete this in His infinite wisdom, when “man” does not have this knowledge, without God they are just bags of hot air, like Job’s friends, going on and on in their own wisdom which is futile and empty compared to God’s wisdom. God’s wisdom is similar to the way He created the earth. It has beauty on the first level, it has beauty when you look closer, it has infinite clarity and design when you dissect it, and it has purpose from every angle when you wonder a little, why plants, or stars work the way they do.

Jer 51:16 When He uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: He maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of His treasures.

God’s word is very similar to His creation, His wisdom is not hidden from us, but expressed in CREATION. Those beautiful flowers, the water cycle, the ecosystem, the heavens… HE makes lightning with RAIN! Think about the exchange of energy, organized in the very molecules of the air, and the heavy molecules of the water. This is an extremely delicate balance of energy, pressure, and temperature, one mistake and you’ve got ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, but instead God makes LIGHTNING! Reading God’s word with understanding is like watching a lightning storm, a miracle of REAL power and love.

Jer 51:17 Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

Now compare this with some man’s theory, some man’s religious tradition, they own path to heaven, their own theologies, their own “righteousness”, their own “words of wisdom”. God is saying that is empty and lifeless and without comparison. Essentially it’s dead. They can’t “found” a new religion and have anything of value. Brutish is the only reason they would do this, it means something that consumes itself, and man’s wisdom is similar to this, he eats it all up and it’s gone.

Jer 51:18 They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

You know, they think their “work” that they spend so much time on is meaningful, but when it is not based on God’s Word, then it’s just a pile of errors. They’ve taken one brick from their own beliefs and stacked error on top of error, and they won’t reap anything from their life’s work.

Jer 51:19 The portion of Jacob is not like them; for He is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of His inheritance: the LORD of hosts is His name.

Jacob is God’s portion, that is all the natural seed of the tribes of Israel. God will use His elect as a rod to correct His people, and help bring them out of confusion.

Jer 51:20 Thou art My battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

God’s hand is one of the most powerful thing in the world, when He uses His people , God can move mountains with His elect! Mountains symbolizing nations, meaning God has control over all the nations.

Jer 51:21 And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;

God is going to use His elect of Israel, but also He is going to use the kings and queens of the ethnos, as He used Cyrus, an ethnos to complete the historical part of this prophecy.

Jer 51:22 With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;

God is going to use us, His elect to break apart CONFUSION. Old traditions, young traditions of man, and/or religions of men. Piece by piece, the blocks of confusion will be taken down and out of the minds of God’s people.
Jer 51:23 I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.

The shepherd and his flock here, is the false shepherd or satan. He has caused confusion in many churches by implanting false doctrine and traditions of men. Even those who are considered the leaders and power-brokers, God is going to give His elect power over everything.

Jer 51:24 And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.

They will finally get what is coming to them for ignoring the Bible, and trusting in some man. Those who have a destiny, will perform it. Have you seen injustice? Have you seen false teachings & people spreading CONFUSION rather than teaching God’s true word? Don’t worry, God SEES what they are saying, and He SEES what they do in their secret places. Confusion will get exactly what it deserves, that is God’s promise to us. Thank you Father for your promises! As Isa 43:26 says ” Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified. ” That thou mayest be justified. Thank you Father!

Jer 51:25 Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

This mountain will become an empty burned out volcano, whe the LORD puts satan down.

Jer 51:26 And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD.

The Chief cornerstone is Christ, and satan wants that spot, so he gives his kingdom of confusion a false cornerstone for a foundation of their confusion. Anything based on man’s words, or man’s opinion is empty and void.

Jer 51:27 Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.

The caterpillers is the same as the locust army prophesied in Joel. This chapter has another meaning, a DEEPER meaning if you will, when the names of the kingdoms are translated into English for our understanding. Ararat means the highest place, Minni means the division (or division of the people!), Ashchenaz means “spreading fire”!

“….against her the kingdoms of the holy high ground, the division of the people, and spreading fire; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.”

There is so much more to this verse that a whole study could be made from it and the verses of the book of Joel and Revelation that it references.

Jer 51:28 Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

God is preparing an army. His army will take down the King of Babylon under HIS direct orders.

Jer 51:29 And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

This should nail it down to you that this has not come to pass yet, as long as there are PEOPLE in the LAND it is NOT yet fulfilled! The same as all these prophecies of Jeremiah, concerning Babylon. Especially, those of Jeremiah 24 which speaks of the arrival of the King of Babylon. God gave us these Scriptures to WARN us, and so that He might make EVERY PURPOSE of His not only KNOWN, but He WILL complete them! NONE will stop Him! Babylon is going to be PLUCKED UP and destroyed, according to THIS WORD, and man’s word means nothing.

Jer 51:30 The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.

God will be successful in breaking down CONFUSION and OPINIONS of man.

Jer 51:31 One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,


They will be shocked. Everything appeared to be safe and sound and true! Not one stone will be left standing, as Christ said.

Jer 51:32 And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

It will happen like this at the LAST trump, and it hasn’t happened yet. This great prophecy of Jeremiah concerns the King of Babylon, and when he is here defacto. Want to know what will happen? It is written right here in the book of Jeremiah! Praise God for it! Thank you Father!

 

Jer 50:28 The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of His temple.

 
 

The vengeance of His Temple means that the Gentiles have overrun it and the land of Zion. The ones that fleed were the obedient children who went into captivity, those being the good figs. Eventually their message will be sent right back to the scene of the crime, in front of the Temple in the LAND of Jerusalem in Judea.

 
 

Jer 50:29 Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

 
 

This reminds me of Ezekiel 4:2 and Jeremiah 6:6, which says “lay siege against Jerusalem”, which is our subject from verse 28 here. We are commanded here to “camp AGAINST it round about”, which means “don’t let confusion escape out of that camp”. This also reminds us of Mystery Babylon from Revelation, and her judgment shall fall according to everything that she has done, in all her religious condemnation with all her traditions, it will all be brought down.

 
 

 
 

Jer 50:30 Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD.

 

This is both historical and prophetic. In the futurist sense, all the men of war in that region which currently fight against our God and His Word, those Gentiles that overrun the Temple even today.

Jer 50:31 Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.

 
 

God will visit at the 7th trump, and all those in the spiritual confusion will get theirs, and all those physically IN that area who have overrun the Temple and the land will also get it.

Jer 50:32 And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.

 
 

The cities of Jerusalem, where the Gentiles have stolen the heritage of our people, will also finally be taken away. He will also utterly destroy confusion, in the spiritual sense.

 
 

Jer 50:33 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.

 
 

The Lord views them as going into oppression together because the King of Babylon made this oppression final and complete by taking the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and Levi, which were the Sceptre, the Beloved, and the priests. In the spiritual sense ALL of them are held captive by lies today, and they cannot see their way out.

 
 

Jer 50:34 Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is His name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that He may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

 
 

Their Redeemer is God Himself. This is Jehovah Sabaoth in English. He will redeem ALL of His children of Israel because of the covenant given in Gen 15:18.

Jer 50:35 A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

 
 

The inhabitants are the Gentiles that have overrun the land of Judea and the very Temple itself. Spiritually, this is the Sword of the Lord upon the confusion of the world, religion, and all lies.

 
 

Jer 50:36 A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.

 
 

In other words, who are the inhabitants of the city of Babylon in the book of Revelation, those that follow the spurious messiah are the citizens of Mystery Babylon because of the liars and those that have lied to them.

 
 

Jer 50:37 A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.

 
 

If we take this literally, then we see Gentiles in the land of Judea, and spiritually it means that those false doctrines are going to be stripped and taken away from them.

Jer 50:38 A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.

 
 

The two witnesses will be able to call rain down from heaven or cause a drought in the last day. It is because the people are too caught up with idols like their own possessions or even satan himself when he comes at the 6th trump.

 
 

Jer 50:39 Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.

 
 

This speaks of the final destruction of Babylon mentioned in Rev 17, aka the 7th trump. That is to say, no more will they inhabit the city of confusion any more!

 
 

Jer 50:40 As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

 
 

So shall it be with the confusion, it won’t exist anymore.

 
 

Jer 50:41 Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

Jer 50:42 They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

 
 

This great nation, born in a day Isaiah 66:8 will ultimately come against Babylon, at the 7th trump. They are cruel because they hate satan, the abomination, the son of perdition.

 
 

Jer 50:43 The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

 
 

When the elect start to witness during the 6th trump, satan will begin to panic because God’s Word will be triumphant over him. The labor pains will finally come to delivery pains as Isaiah 66:8-9 instructs that this nation will be born in a day.

 
 

Isa 66:9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.

 
 

Jer 50:44 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like Me? and who will appoint Me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before Me?

 
 

See Jer 49:19-21. This is spoken against Edom also. He has a few questions for these two nations Babylon and Edom, it doesn’t seem as if they know the answers, having not believed in Christ our Saviour, they don’t know the appointed time.

Jer 50:45 Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that He hath taken against Babylon; and His purposes, that He hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.

Jer 50:46 At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.

 
 

The earth is indeed moved at his return, once for Edom (the cause of Armageddon) and once at Jerusalem where Babylon is ruling from. Two major earthquakes occurr at His return. His purposes are not mysterious, as the whole chapter here explains what he purports to do and why! Praise the LORD for He is good and perfect in all His ways.

Jer 50:1 The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.

If you follow the names of the Gentile nations to be judged in Jeremiah 25, the king of Babylon is the very last one to receive the Judgment, also known as Sheshach, a Hebrew code name for Babylon.

This is also the 50th prophecy of Jeremiah in addition to the 50th chapter, which affixes the meaning of pentecost to this chapter, which naturally is when the people will prophecy against satan, the king of Babylon.

 

 
 

 
 

Jer 50:2 Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.

 
 

Babylon means confusion, Bel is like saying Baal, and Merodach means death.

Jer 50:3 For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.

The spurious messiah will sit in the side of the north, because that is where God’s throne will seat. The nation that comes up against her “Babylon” will historically be the Medes and the Persians, but prophetically the nation that will be born in a day, God’s elect.

Jer 50:4 In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.

The return has not happened yet. First we UPROOT

Jer 1:10 ¶

See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

That is four descriptions that must happen FIRST, before Judah is to return with the rest of Israel to the land of Judah, then we plant.

Jer 50:5 They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.

This is the original covenant made with Abraham. It is a perpetual covenant God made with them in Gen 15:18, definitely both houses of Israel.

Jer 50:6 My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.

The 10 tribes of Israel are without a doubt totally lost. Even, the other tribes are lost and scattered (Jer 9:16). The mountains symbolize nations, and they have gone from country to country, and have forgotten their true restingplace, our Heavenly Father and His promise that He gave to ALL of Israel.

Jer 50:7 All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.

The LORD is our only hope. It is His Word that has been passed down from generation to generation from father to father. This is why we should honor our Father and Mother, the 5th commandment. That is to say we should honor them for passing down to us God’s Word, from Generation to generation.

Jer 50:8 Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.

Get out of Babylon, Get out of confusion, which is what Babylon means. Use that Word of God passed down from your fathers, their only hope, and preach that before the flocks! This is similar to what will happen at the final Pentecost, when the Spirit of truth speaks through us.

Jer 50:9 For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.

The Mighty Man is a prophecy yet future of what will happen when the Holy Spirit speaks through us, as a perfect expert, happening even on Pentecost Day (as in Acts 2:6-7)

Jer 50:10 And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD.

God’s elect will see this satisfaction, even though, captivity has been completed on the rest of the people. God’s elect are protected throughout.

Jer 50:11 Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;

God’s heritage is His people (written in Gen 15:18), and satan is the destroyer who told lies about their heritage, “Hath Israel no sons? Hath he no heir?”

Changing the heritage of our people with traditions of men is what has destroyed the truth amongst God’s people, confusing people, and turning everything upside down.

Jer 50:12 Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

The Mother is the one that nurtures you. In this sense these false religions were nurtured along by her shepherds, and they built it up from scratch. It was their baby, never existing eternally, but a “new thing”, a “new doctrine” nursed along by the mother who bore it.

Jer 50:13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

That’s written in Revelation 17.

Jer 50:14 Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD.

This means God’s people are Warriors! Not deserters or cowards. We are given strength by God Almighty and Words by His Holy Spirit. This is an undefeatable force.

Jer 50:15 Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.

Don’t just “whisper” around we are to SHOUT the truth. We aren’t to hide from Babylon, but go before her boldly and IN the Word of truth. She is going to receive the truth like a sword, as she cut them all down into spiritual death.

Jer 50:16 Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.

There will not be allowed any sowing of false doctrine anymore. That every he- goat, that is to say leader of his people will lead into truth.

Jer 50:17 Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.

From God’s perspective, He sees the HOUSE of Israel, His chosen people, and their downfall from grace. Having been chased away by lions, and devoured (the flesh) by the Assyrian, and finally finished off by the King of Babylon. In Hebrew the word “devoured” is to have their flesh consumed, but even more the King of Babylon breaks the bones and destroys every remnant of their heritage, as explained in verse 11 of this same chapter. Taken spiritually, this is how complete spiritual death that happens when satan arrives to deceive the people.

Jer 50:18 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.

God will finish this, just as He promised.

Jer 50:19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.

This of course, has not happened yet. It will happen at the 7th trump, when God returns to the earth.

Jer 50:20 In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.

At this time when Judah and Ephraim are in Jerusalem, at the 7th trump, there will not be found any sins among them!

Jer 50:21 Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.

Merathaim means “double rebellion”, Pekod means “visitation”, and God will visit!

Jer 50:22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

Jer 50:23 How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!

Because of the leaders and the Holy Spirit, is how they have been broken.

Jer 50:24 I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD.

They are caught, because their traditions don’t hold water, and cannot save them. Their babies they’ve been nurturing along will not hold water either!

Jer 50:25 The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.

The seven vials is where the armoury is found, our sword of the LORD!

Jer 50:26 Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.

Take those lies, and false teachings and cast them down to the ground to be burnt into smoke.

Jer 50:27 Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.

It is written in Revelation as WOE, WOE, WOE, for the deceiver is cast down upon the earth!

Jer 49:23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet. 

Damascus was a great city of trade, and whenever you have trade you have Hamath (the kenites see 1 Chron 2:55).  Damascus means “tame heifer” and she goes the easiest way.  The easiest way can lead the wrong way.  The sea was well known by these traders.  They knew when it was quiet, they knew the ancient trade routes, and they knew that when it was tempest with storms, that they could not control it and much damage might result from a sea full of sorrow.  The news that arrived to them was that the King of Babylon and his system of trade that he sets up will fall.

Jer 49:24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.

This connects to the LATTER DAYS because it shall be like a woman in travail.

Jer 49:25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!

How is it that this great city trading magnificent treasures will fall?  I mean they look so powerful and strong!

Jer 49:26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
Jer 49:27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.

Benhadad means mighty. This will happen again because this is a type that happens even in the LATTER DAYS.  The next verse introduces Kedar (the Bedouins living in and near Palestine) a son of Ishmael.

Jer 49:28 Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the EAST [KEDEM - MIDDLE EAST].

Now, Hazor means castle and is located near the Euphrates river and the Persian gulf.

Jer 49:29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.

Fear is on every side, every side of Jerusalem, every side of every country in every land!  They are afraid because they don’t have God with them.  They don’t understand Him, they don’t believe Him, and they don’t know His Word.  This verse might remind you of Magormissabib from Jer 20:3, which being interpreted means “fear on every side”.  Passhur’s name meant freedom, but because of his attack on Jeremiah receive “fear everywhere”.  There was no safe place for a resident of Judah to run and escape from God’s judgment against them.  

Jer 49:30 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.

Jer 49:31 Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.

There is only one nation that dwells in peace without walls.  It looks all the way to the future to America which is blessed and wealthy without a care.

Jer 49:32 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the LORD.

Their wealth wasn’t in cattle this time, but in oil.

Jer 49:33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.

That will mean that this will be a desolation even unto this day, where no man can dwell in the many desert areas. 

Jer 49:34 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

Jeremiah spake against Elam also.  Elam means hidden in one sense.

Jer 49:35 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.

In Jer 25:25 Elam is mentioned with some of his allies and commanded to drink the cup of wrath right before the last king which is naturally Sheshach (a code word for Babylon).

Jer 49:36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.

The four winds signify the end of the age!  Revelation 7 and Daniel 7 both mention these winds.  These winds will also control the kenites themselves.

This is the last nation to get a prophecy and the very last is satan himself, as the king of Babylon, also known as Sheshach.

Jer 49:37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even My fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:  

The kenites are not consumed until after the millennium.

Jer 49:38 And I will set My throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.

God’s throne will be a throne of judgment in Elam.

Jer 49:39 But it shall come to pass in the LATTER days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.

In the LATTER DAYS is now, and this prophet spoke of the Latter days even 2500 yrs ago! 

This prophecy is for all the tribes of Israel (not just Judah) AND  the surrounding Gentile nations!  We shouldn’t forget this point as we read through the book of Jeremiah, the ambassador to the Gentiles and even to God’s other prophets like Daniel and Ezra!  The 70 year captivity carrying on throughout and forming the foundation of Daniel’s 70 weeks.  Jeremiah was a key prophet that summarized what all the prophets had spoken since the days of the divided kingdom and even before. 

Israel had sons alright!   It may seem like Judah has no brothers or Jacob had no sons because they haven’t inherited their land even up to the LATTER DAYS.  This is very important to understand the prophecy written by this great prophet launched into treacherous times, the ambassador of truth, Jeremiah.

Jer 49:1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?  

This prophecy covers the Gentiles, the Ammonites living just east of the Jordan river, took over the land of Gad, like it was not their land!

Hath Israel no sons?  Well he had 12!  Those Gentiles were taking over Israel’s land!

 Jer 49:2 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the LORD.  

Just as the time of the Gentiles ends when Christ returns, so also the time of these ones taking over the LAND of Israel won’t end until Christ returns and makes it a desolate heap.  That alarm of war is the 7th trump sounding, and ALL of Israel shall return to the land of their inheritance.  This has not come to pass yet obviously, and it will happen just like this.

Jer 49:3 Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together. 

Heshbon means “Stronghold” and “Ai” means heap of ruins. Some churches who teach falsely, will be howling despite their stronghold on the people, they cannot continue teaching lies, and their church foundation has become rubble. They will all go into captivity EVEN THE GENTILE nations, symbolic of the full deception of the final king of Babylon, satan pretending to be the Messiah.

Jer 49:4 Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?  

They had wealth, these side-liners known as Ammonites, because they never took part in the wars of Israel, but when Israel fell they just took all the spoil!  They gloried in a land that wasn’t theirs!  Bragging and trusting in their own stolen wealth.

Jer 49:5 Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth.  

They were given a spirit of fear, which serves them right for worshipping the god of Molech.   When they see them wandering through the desert and so forth, NONE shall help them, they’ll be as good as dead.

Jer 49:6 And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith the LORD.  

We know for certain that this is the end times because God will finally end their captivity, and he hasn’t done so to this day.  One point is that the surrounding nations of Jerusalem today are still in destitute condition, for the regular people living conditions.

Jer 49:7 Concerning Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?

We are now shifting to a different group of Gentiles, called Edom.  Jeremiah was sent to them all!  Edom is the land of Esau, and Edom means Red.  Esau didn’t care about his inheritance from God.  He sold it for a bowl of porridge.   Since he made bad decisions, he was commanded to live in a difficult hard land, where his seed still lives today even!  The book of Jeremiah is accurate and precise, not missing any surrounding nation to Jerusalem.  In other words, they lost their wisdom because they spat on their inheritance, and our inheritance is this great word of God.

Jer 49:8 Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him.  

In Ezek 38-39 is written what will happen to Esau at the last battle of Armageddon.

Jer 49:9 If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.

Regular theives would probably leave some stuff leftover, like those who are picking grapes, they just can’t get them all.

Jer 49:10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.

God is going to fulfill this prophecy in the very end, and it hasn’t fully been fulfilled yet.  Showing how Jeremiah was prophesying of the very end.

  Jer 49:11 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.  

If they turn to the Father, then He will save them.

Jer 49:12 For thus saith the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it. 

“They” are people who think they don’t have to drink it.  Jeremiah 25 discusses this cup of wrath, which was to be poured upon ALL the nations, and especially the King of Babylon, called “Sheshach” there.  Even then, it was prophesied that ALL the nations would drink.

Jer 49:13  For I have sworn by Myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.

Bozrah is your strongest fortress.  Some churches appear strong and beautiful, but without every word from the mouth of the Lord, they will fall like the rest.

Jer 49:14  I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.

“Heathen” again is all the surrounding nations.  Who is the ambassador?  It is Jeremiah!  He was sent to them, to give them instructions on what to do about all the confusion causing the people to fall.  They are instructed to come against confusion and rise up to the battle!  Not lay back and hide!  God needs warriors not deserters.

Jer 49:15  For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men. 

This is speaking of the Russian government, being atheistic doesn’t make them popular.

Jer 49:16  Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD. 

Some people think “hiding” is the answer.  They aren’t going to hide from the King of Babylon.  God is going to allow satan to conquest every nation both then and in the 6th trump.

Jer 49:17  Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof. 

Ezekiel 39:11 discusses the stench also.  If you look at the map, where Edom was located in ancient times, is now repopulated by a different peoples, who may also be indicated here in this prophecy.

Jer 49:18  As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it. 

This was the desolation of the King of Babylon anciently, but in the future sense this describes the 7th trump, and at that time there won’t be flesh anymore (I Cor 15:51).

Jer 49:19  Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like Me? and who will appoint Me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before Me? 

Who is this “lion” now? It is the spurious Messiah ready to devour any lamb coming down to the Jordan to drink, but God is still in control, and will protect the chosen man.  “Who is the shepherd” that dare stand against God?  There is one who will do that, that will be satan.

Jer 49:20  Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that He hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.

The least of the flock will “drag them out”, meaning dead ones.  Why are they dead?  They have no wisdom!  They are spiritually dead.  Remember this might also apply to Teman, located very near Israel today.

Jer 49:21  The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.

The Red sea here should be translated “reed sea”, where the stench will be smelled and fall heard.

Jer 49:22  Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. 

The eagle usually symbolizes our Father, but here you have a fake because the “labor pangs” are clearly noted.  This might remind you of Daniel’s description of satan riding in on the “wings of abomination” (in the Hebrew of Daniel 9:27).  This book of Jeremiah is very up to date, even laying the foundation for Daniel’s prophecy, regarding this evil eagle.

Jer 48:27 For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.

Israel was Moab’s Cousin.  When Israel was in trouble, Moab rejoiced to take the spoil, but he doesn’t see his own flaw of false religion, namely his god called “Chemosh”, the great subduer.

Jer 48:28 O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth. 

The dove is symbolic of peace.  If you want peace then you better get out of the confusion of the city, you’d better RUN from the doctrines and covenants of a false god of force, Chemosh!

 The city will be over-run by the King of Babylon soon, and he will capitalize on this foundation of false religion and take it and conquer it and use it as a means to convince the people to follow him INSTEAD!

Jer 48:29 We have heard the arrogance of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.

Pride is repeated here for emphasis.  Moab is a picture of what will happen in the LATTER days, and so the religions of OUR day will be so proud of themselves, and their “holy” rituals and their high minded pastor’s and even “prophets”.  When the ONLY prophet is God, and His word, as it is written even here in the book of Jeremiah.

Josiah was the ONLY KING of Judah (up to even solomon) that overthrew the “god of force”, i.e. CHEMOSH!  This will happen in the LATTER DAYS, when the ELECT will overthrow the god of force with the help and power of Almighty God, they will subdue the subduer, for if Israel’s name isn’t “He will prevail over them with God”!  Spiritual Israel is the prevailer!  It will happen at the 7th trump when the “spoiler/subduer” (satan) will be thrown down.

Jer 48:30 I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.

He’s boasting about RELIGION.  He’s rolling in the “dust” as was stated in verse 18.  This religious people may get angry and tell everyone to follow them or else!  But their lies will not help them accomplish anything.  Lies can always be revealed by the light.  They just can’t survive long in the light.

Jer 48:31 Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kirheres.

Kirheres is a brick fortress so strong, it is supposed to be impossible to take it!  There are so many religions today that have this as their facade.   God intends that it will be taken.

Jer 48:32 O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.

Sibmah even to this day is known for having the best vineyards ever.  Jazer means Yah helps.  There is a bunch of fruit there all right!  But is it still good?  These plants have gone OVER THE SEA.  Are all plants good?  What if they are/or become SPOILED?  It is possible that these churches full of good works and love can be spoiled by satan when he arrives as the false messiah.

 Jer 48:33 And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.

The people that are usually taking in the firstfruits, making the wine, are not there.  There isn’t any wine to press!  There isn’t any rejoicing as normal, and therefore no shouting.  Really, they should be shouting “satan is coming!  Watch out for the spoiler!”

Jer 48:34 From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.

Eleaheh means (the ascending of God) and Heshbon means STRONGHOLD!  Moab (or the people he represents in the LATTER day saints) have built a huge fortress of religion.  They claim that their prophet ascended to God, and anyone who follows that prophet will also ascend to God!   This could be any one of the main religions in America.  Some claim they are going to FLY (ascend) to God because of the rapture doctrine.  Remember in verse 2 of this chapter how they built their strongholds against God?  We will read more in v. 41 about this method of church indoctrination.
Zoar (smallness), Nimrim (pure), meaning there’s not going to be anything pure about it.  Jahaz means trodden down, and Horonaim (two caverns).   We know that the holy city will be “trodden down” also as it is written in the book of Revelation.

Jer 48:35 Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods. 

God says that He is going to destroy their “gods” and their “incense” and their false houses of worship, which they call Beth-el (house of God).

Jer 48:36 Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the riches that he hath gotten are perished. 

These pipes are FUNERAL pipes, because they are ready to be buried, spiritually dead, and their riches in the flesh don’t mean ANYTHING.  They are spiritually bankrupt.  When He returns, He expects a virgin bride, but instead they are “with child” in a spiritual sense.

Jer 48:37 For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth. 

The head will be shaved for SHAME.  They were so prideful, but they threw it all away.

Jer 48:38 There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD. 

What is supposed to be upon the house-top?  A watchman!  WHO watches for the enemy, but there is nothing but sad songs coming from the watchman now.  This vessel is like a clay pot, which He will brake in their sight, because of His displeasure. Jeremiah was warning them!  He was taking names, giving them a clear path to follow the true God, but instead they cried and whined for the loss of Chemosh.

Jer 48:39 They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.

 They really worked hard to build this false religion! They spent many hours constructing rituals and incorporating traditions to enslave the people, and help them find their way “up”, “ascend to God” by using man’s way.  Man’s way will obstruct your view!  You won’t be able to see the enemy, because the “god of force” has you pedaling as hard as you can to make it to heaven HIS WAY, not God’s way.

The prideful will be brought way down to the dust because all this high and mighty religion, brought them straight to death which is to say satan.  

Jer 48:40 For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.

This “eagle” here is satan.  He “loving” way is to spread his wings over his deceived flock of firstfruits.  Moffatt translates this verse that “he” (satan) ASCENDS like an eagle!  Which points us back to verse 34 with “Elealeh” who “ascends to God”.

Jer 48:41 Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. 

All the cities (Kerioth) are taken.  The strong holds are all those doctrines they worked so hard to insert into the word of God and make it truth.  One day they will be very surprised that their tower of man’s traditions built to take them to God (or even make them gods) to “ascend to God” (Elealeh v.34) will not work.  

The strongholds (doctrines built with strength) will not hold, their “mightiness” will fail.  This will take place in the LATTER DAY SAINTS.  I say “saints” because these people who built their own way to “ascend to God” appear to be saints!  They appear to be Christians even!  But instead they are a sign that things are going to get worse, even go into LABOR.  These things will happen exactly as it is written, and then the end, day of visitation shall come.

They are in the pains of a woman’s LABOR.  These were mentioned by Christ in Matthew 24, which shows that this is indeed referring to the LATTER DAYS.  Beware!  Moab is a proud religious lot of people, but they are Biblically illiterate and will fall when satan arrives.

Jer 48:42 And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD. 

In other words, when he thinks he is better or equal to god, that means he has magnified himself against the LORD!

Jer 48:43 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.

This is a promise to the huge group of people, that will come to pass in the LATTER DAYS.  A SNARE will entrap this people.  Why would God allow that?  Because they are Biblically illiterate and will believe anything their pastors or prophets say to them.

Jer 48:44 He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.

“The year of their Visitation” is the year that all this will happen to them.  That is to say the LATTER DAYS.  Notice that Jeremiah doesn’t use the term “latter days” because God wants to give attach meaning to this time, Visitation, meaning God’s judgment is finally coming to pass.  After all this time of Moab committing these abominations, he will finally be judged for them at one specific time, that is the Day of Visitation.

Jer 48:45 They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.

They will try and flee.  The force of God’s anger is coming from ALL directions!  He is the consuming fire, and no matter which direction they look, He is coming.  Their “crowns” will no longer be worth a dime.  Their pride is going down.

Jer 48:46 Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters captives.

WOE (second Woe of the chapter), first we have WOE to NEBO (knowledge of false religion).  Chemosh is their false god!  It represented FALSE TEACHING, FALSE WORSHIP.  They are taken CAPTIVE, just like Israel and ALL the other nations.  They don’t have the truth any more than any other Gentile nation!  Though they look so religious, it is NOT truth.  Captivity ALL around, no one escapes.  

Jer 48:47 Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the LATTER DAYS, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.

There it is!  The DAY of VISITATION is NONE other than the LATTER DAYS!  It is because of CHEMOSH, false religions, rather than the Word of God.  Wouldn’t you rather have an actual account (the Bible), rather than riddles and traditions of men?

Chemosh = “subduer” (entry from the BDB lexicon)

What does it mean to subdue someone?

1. To conquer and subjugate; vanquish. See Synonyms at defeat.
2. To quiet or bring under control by physical force OR persuasion; make tractable.

tractable means: 1. Easily managed or controlled; governable.
2. Easily handled or worked; malleable.

The God of the LATTER DAY SAINTS (meaning any religious group or organization) is CHEMOSH, meaning you have to be subdued by their way to “ascend to God”, their doctrine. In their religion, you must obey their will and allow them to GOVERN or CONTROL your every move on earth.  

Jeremiah prophesied in the days when FALSE RELIGION governed the earth and its “SAINTS”.  Our God does not require us to be “conquered” by him or persuaded to a new gospel.  Those are satan’s methods, as Chemosh is satan’s religion.  FULL OF FORCE.  For when God gives us truth, He doesn’t do it by force.

Jas_1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.  

Basically this means God gives wisdom without FORCE (chemosh), or without chiding.  The word for upbraideth in Greek is oneidizo .  It means God will give you wisdom without scorning you or causing you to be embarassed or ashamed or convicting you!

God is not going to use force (Chemosh), He’s not going to insult, wound, or confuse.

In other words, He isn’t going to use the methods used today by false religions and people eager for you to follow them.  

Instead, heed the warning of this great prophet Jeremiah.  Instead of following anyone with the semblance of religion, BEWARE of those SAINTS of the LATTER DAY, with claims to try “ascending to God” (Elealeh), but follow the example given by Josiah, Jeremiah, and the true saints, which is no God will FORCE you to receive wisdom.  We do not worship the “god of force”!

Jer 48:1 Against Moab thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.

Jeremiah speaks here to a descendant of LOT by his own daughter, named Moab.  Why would God speak to Moab specifically?  If you recall, Lot escaped the last time a city was destroyed by God, but THIS time no one is going to Escape!  Not even the son of Lot, the previous one who escaped.

Since this is the case we must observe where Mt. Nebo is also located.  It is the mountain that overlooks the river Jordan, where Moses would see the promised land, but not be able to enter into the promised land.  You see, Jeremiah prophesies of the LAST DAYS, when the promised land will be visible only by God’s elect, such as Moses.

Nebo meant “learning”.  Moab’s people are located in this area.  They represent people today who are self righteous in their religious institutions of learning, but don’t know anything of the Bible itself, where true knowledge is found.  This is further documented by the word Misgab which means the “HIGHEST court in the land” is confounded and confused.

Nebo (they should be learning), but instead they are confounded.  Just like Lot was confounded even when his city was destroyed, there will be people in the latter days that appear religious, even very learned in the ways of men and rituals/traditions thereof, but their claims of “holiness” and “religiousness” does not clear up their confusion.

The people of Moab picture the religious leaders of the LATTER DAYS.  They could be located anywhere on the earth, but mostly in the Christian nations where false gospels and traditions of men are taught.

Jer 48:2 There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee. 

There shall be no more praise for Moab, but Moab pictures people in the LATTER days who have praise, they have Nebo, the great mountain of learning!

Heshbon means “strong-hold”, and IN that strong hold they have devised evil.

A strong-hold is defined in ENGLISH as:

1. (Military / Fortifications) a defensible place; fortress
2. a major centre or area of predominance 

The Hebrew is much more descriptive :  Heshbon 2808 חֶשְׁבּוֹן from 2803 chashab

H2803; properly contrivance; by implication intelligence: – account, device, reason.

In other words.  They got some nasty DOCTRINES, that have been CONTRIVED through pervasive false logic.

Madmen, when translated from the Hebrew means DUNGHILL.  God doesn’t like their “strong-holds” of tradition and false doctrine!  He will pursue it with the sword and the great fortresses of “NEBO” will be brought down.

Jer 48:3 A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction.

Horonaim means two caverns, which means they were divided and never knowing which way to go.

 Jer 48:4 Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.

If Moab was so smart, they’d teach their children the truth, but they themselves are lost in traditions of men and false gospels.

Jer 48:5 For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.  

Luhith is a table made of boards.

Jer 48:6 Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

This is the people saying “flee” to save your life, and “be like the heath in the wilderness”.  The Heath was a plant that grew at the mouth of a cave and just when it got a little green, the mountain goat would come and crop it off. You cannot create your own salvation from the King of Babylon, smart religious people of Nebo and run like cowards into the wilderness for protection!

Jer 48:7 For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.

  Chemosh means subduer, and was one of their false gods with a false gospel.  We have people today that have dragged idolatry right into the churches, like EASHTAR, the fertility goddess.  They WILL take part in the great apostasy.

 Jer 48:8 And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.

EVERY city will the King of Babylon come upon.  In the futurist sense satan will come upon the entire earth, the spoiler that is to say satan himself claiming to be the messiah.

 Jer 48:9 Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.

This teaches against all who would say that people will GET away from the King of Babylon (satan in the time to come).  It will seem like no one dwelling therein has knowledge of the truth.

Jer 48:10 Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.

Oh yeah, there will be some out there that  will withhold the TRUTH written in Jeremiah and try to keep back that which the people need to hear.  Instead they spill their lies about traditions of men and false covenants and false gospels, and a whole MOUNTAIN full of untruth!  Woe unto MOUNT NEBO, the great god of learning!

 Jer 48:11 Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.

This verse is talking about the art of WINE-MAKING.   Good wine has a sweet taste when left set, but bad wine doesn’t have the sweet scent and tastes like vinegar, basically good for nothing!  This directly refers to the spiritual condition of people today who have adopted false gospels and gone unpunished by our Heavenly Father, whereas they weren’t corrected “emptied from vessel to vessel”, but just kept false doctrine and it has soured them!

Jer 48:12 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.

This should be translated “Cellar tender” that shall use a “cellar ladder” to lift the wine bottles and take that worthless junk and POUR IT OUT , out of their houses of religion or church houses!

 Jer 48:13 And Moab will be shamed on account of Chemosh, as the children of Israel were shamed on account of Beth-el their hope.

Chemosh was their RELIGION, and they will be just as ashamed of their church houses, as Israel will be of BETH-EL, which means “house of God”.  In other words, Jereboam moved two golden calves into Beth-el to make religion easier for those people, hence corrupting their churches with false doctrine.

Jer 48:14 How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war? 

How can they say we are great fighters, when their running away the first chance they get?  You need the gospel armor to fight this war, not a jet pack to fly out of here.

Jer 48:15 Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

They are spoiled, even spoiled rotten.  Wallowing in false doctrine, and running away like scared rabbits, they aren’t any men of war at all, but mown down like blades of grass for the slaughter.  They were unprepared and listened to the message of false prophets.

Jer 48:16 The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.

The calamity of Moab was found IN THE CHURCHES, and it will be revealed and corrected one day, in the LATTER DAYS, and God says here it hasteneth fast and they will come to knowledge of their affliction.  These Latter day saints are nothing more than latter day losers, that are Biblically illiterate babies.

 Jer 48:17 All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod! 

The beautiful rod is actually a symbol for the elect, meaning Almond branch.  They are the ones with the truth, because they are the first to “wake up” in those LATTER DAYS.  Unfortunately, these Moabites have allowed “Chemosh”, false religion to come in and broken Moab down to nothing.

 Jer 48:18 Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holds.

Dibon means “wasting”.  Sit in thirst should be translated to “sit in the dust of this strange land”.  Satan crawls in the dust and this “daughter” (meaning Moab’s religion) will get out and roll with satan, thinking they are doing ok.

Jer 48:19 O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What is done?  

Aroer means “ruins”, and they will ask, “what happened”?  Many today ask the same thing because this is about the LATTER days.  They don’t know what is going on, people are fleeing and escaping, and all that is left is ruins.  No one knows why these great people are fallen to ruins.  It’s basically because of the creeping of false religion and false doctrine of the people of God.

 Jer 48:20 Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,

Moab is the Adamic people.  For the most part they are the Christian nations, and they have fallen from their sovereignty they once had, yes, that is indicating even America.  They are simply giving it away through apostasy in these LATTER DAY Moabites.  We must absorb the picture here of a failing nation of Adamic people, meaning there isn’t very many righteous in the LATTER DAY.
Jer 48:21 And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,

Holon (the sand), Jahazah (trodden down), Mephaath (splendor height).  These names help tell the story of the great nation which is now “trodden down” even from its great splendor.
Jer 48:22 And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Bethdiblathaim,

Bethdiblathaim is “house” (beth) of the fig cakes.  This is a direct reference to the LATTER DAY non-saints of Moab.  The fig tree is a symbol of the people of Israel, started in Genesis, picked up in Jeremiah, and concluded by Christ Yashua in the gospels.  This prophecy concerns a people in whom the elect even dwell in the LATTER DAYS those saints are among those who have been trodden down with apostasy.

Jer 48:23 And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Bethgamul, and upon Bethmeon,  

translated right it should read BethBAALmeon, meaning “house of baal”.  The problem is that they are baal worshippers and don’t even know it, by letting so many traditions of men into the “church” that God’s Word is made void.

Jer 48:24 And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.

Kerioth is (the cities) and Bozrah the strong cities, it happened to ALL of them!

 Jer 48:25 The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.

His authority (the horn), power, or strength is broken, in other words their power to protect is gone.

 Jer 48:26 Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

He is going to be mocked because he gets so drunken with his confusion that it’s likened to a drunk that vomits and falls in it.  That means it’s God’s opinion because they pay Him no honor.

It seems that LATTER DAY HOLY JOES today even make themselves equal with God.  God doesn’t look kindly on people who do this, and they’re too drunk in their own “gospel” to know that they’re FAR FAR from God and His word.

It is a sad thing that some people today cannot take time to read God’s Word it is so simple and straight forward when read chapter by chapter and verse by verse.

Jer 47:1 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza.

This chapter takes us back to right before the defeat of Jerusalem. The Gaza strip was NEVER conquered by the Israelites, but God is going to give even this land to the King of Babylon! When He said “ALL nations” I believe He meant it!

Jer 47:2 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.

If you are a student of the book of Revelation, then you would remember the flood that comes from satan (the dragon) in Rev 12. This flood will extend over ALL nations even the unconquered Philistines!

Jer 47:3 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;

The imagery given here is very important. This “attack” is given the description in detail to give us the idea of “speed” and efficiency. No one will know what happened before it is done.

Jer 47:4 Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor.

We are reminded of “speed to the spoil” and “hurry to the prey”. Satan will deceive and capture Caphtor (which means crown). Satan will be wearing a crown. He will quickly and easily deceive the world.

Jer 47:5 Baldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut thyself?

How long are you going to mourn and weep? Until the true King of peace comes, and there’s only ONE.

Jer 47:6 O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.

The sword of the LORD is the Words of God. They aren’t going to stop coming. Jeremiah gave that same word, and NOTHING could stop it! This is how it will be in the latter days. The REST doesn’t come till the 7th TRUMP when our TRUE Messiah arrives.

Jer 47:7 How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath He appointed it.

Ashkelon is the south side of the sea shore (in Gaza) and this sea shore line goes all the way up to Sidon. This land was fought over and never conquered by Judah, but one day the false Christ will come in and “conquer” it swiftly and easily, as he will the entire world.

Jer 46:1 The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Gentiles;

Have you ever been told, that God’s Word from Jeremiah was ONLY to the one tribe of Judah? Not only is that not true, but this word is sent to BOTH houses, and ALL the Gentiles! That doesn’t leave anyone out!

 
 

In a sense, this chapter goes with the beginning chapters of Jeremiah, his first messages to ALL the people of the land.

Chapter 7 – abominations IN the Temple!

Chapter 20 – Passhur attacks Jeremiah

Chapter 26-27 – Enraged prophets, Yoke of bondage

Chapter 25 – Cup of Wrath

Chapter 35 -House of Rechab

Chapter 36 – Re-write it Baruch!

And then chapter 45-46! – Word to the Gentiles

 
 

Jer 46:2 Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaohnecho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah.

It’s about the king Jehoiakim, who tried to lean on Egypt.

 
 

Jer 46:3 Order ye the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.

This was before the 3 sieges of Jerusalem.

Jer 46:4 Harness the horses; and get up, ye horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, and put on the brigandines.

Interesting, that God is WARNING the neighboring Gentile nations to ARM themselves!

 
 

Jer 46:5 Wherefore have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and are fled apace, and look not back: for fear was round about, saith the LORD.

If you remember chapter 20 (not too long ago chronologically), Passhur was given a new name by Jeremiah to mock Passhur. It was “fear round about”, instead of “freedom round about”. In America we have religious freedom, but many Christians who don’t understand the book of Revelation have “fear” round about their thoughts concerning it.

Those today, who like Passhur, disbelieve the words of Jeremiah, will have fear instead of freedom. They attack Jeremiah, they discount his prophecy, and say it isn’t true, which puts them in a place of discounting the Word of God!

 
 

 

Jer 46:6 Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.

The river Euphrates is the boundary between our people and the Babylonians.

 
 

Jer 46:7 Who is this that cometh up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?

Who is this that disturbs the Nile, one was Russia who dammed up the Nile.

 
 

Jer 46:8 Egypt riseth up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he saith, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.

This looks forward to the last days, when these nations will come together and rise like a flood, or like locusts!

 
 

Jer 46:9 Come up, ye horses; and rage, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.

The people of North Africa are rising up, even today! Egypt and Libya especially are handling the bow and overthrowing their leaders.

 
 

Jer 46:10 For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge Him of His adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

The source of Evil is the river Euphrates. The boundary of confusion is the river Euphrates, and it will be “dried up” when satan arrives to confuse the people.

 
 

Jer 46:11 Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured.

The 11th chapter of Daniel takes up with this area where the Seleucid and Ptolemaic kingdoms were located up to 200 BC.

If this “medicine” can’t cure the contention, then it would be considered a “deadly wound” between all the nations of the earth whether Gentile or Christian.

There will be no peace, because it is a religious war.

Jer 46:12 The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the land: for the mighty man hath stumbled against the mighty, and they are fallen both together.

The historical aspect has surely been fulfilled. Today these leaders are falling down left and right (Egypt and Lybia). It is coming to pass, exactly as it is written.

Jer 46:13 The word that the LORD spake to Jeremiah the prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and smite the land of Egypt.

We know, if we remember Johanan the “hero” who called Jeremiah a liar and fled to Egypt. No stone will be left unturned.

 
 

Jer 46:14 Declare ye in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph and in Tahpanhes: say ye, Stand fast, and prepare thee; for the sword shall devour round about thee.

The Balm of Gilead, the medicine of peace, will come together in the latter days.

 
 

Jer 46:15 Why are thy valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.

It doesn’t matter how strong a people are, they are not going to STOP God’s prophecy!

Jer 46:16 He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.

This is referring to those people that ran to Egypt, instead of God perhaps realizing they made a mistake (now that they are oppressed).

Jer 46:17 They did cry there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he hath passed the time appointed.

They are “but a noise” meaning they aren’t all that powerful, and it is still like that today.

Jer 46:18 As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.

This is Jehovah (in English), Who is the “KING of kings” AND the LORD of lords (hosts). The mountains don’t move, they always stay put, and just as SURE as this natural law goes, so shall the King of Babylon (picturing satan) come in the latter days.

Jer 46:19 O thou daughter dwelling in Egypt, furnish thyself to go into captivity: for Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant.

“furnish thyself” is like saying “pack your bags” in modern English, because even though they tried to run and escape, they did not, and will STILL go into captivity.

 
 

Jer 46:20 Egypt is like a very fair heifer, but destruction cometh; it cometh out of the north.

Egypt is going to be very weak, like a heifer, and not strong like a bull. God’s prophecy is going to take place exactly as it is written. It is illustrated here in the book of Jeremiah again and again.

Jer 46:21 Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.

The “hired men” are running too, because God’s Word WILL come to pass, and NOT man’s word. There’s no stopping God’s prophecy.

 
 

Jer 46:22 The voice thereof shall go like a serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.

A serpent hisses and strikes, and hisses and strikes almost before you can react. God is going to punish those who have defiantly tried to escape the captivity without exception, they basically won’t know what hit them.

 
 

Jer 46:23 They shall cut down her forest, saith the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.

The grasshoppers are locusts in Hebrew. They will come out of this city (EGYPT), and just as it is stated in the book of Joel, they will come out right before satan’s arrival and here they arrive just prior to SATAN himself as the fake messiah.

 
 

Jer 46:24 The daughter of Egypt shall be confounded; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.

The daughter of Egypt symbolizes the people today who thought they would escape the captivity of satan, and when they see all these locusts swarming and then satan himself coming from the north, they WILL BE CONFUSED. Their prophets hadn’t warned them, or they didn’t believe the prophets, like Jeremiah, that this was coming. Because they are Biblically illiterate, they will walk right into confusion, through the Euphrates, and into the HAND of satan himself.

Jer 46:25 The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:

“the multitude” means a whole whole lot of people. Percentage wise, the elect who are not “taken” by lies will be really small. Like a flood, this multitude is SWEPT away WITH their “gods” and their “kings” (those who lead them), even their biggest leader will be swept away. They thought they were safe, even though they were Biblically illiterate, they thought they were hearing good “soft” words from Johanan and other heros.

Jer 46:26 And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the LORD.

Egypt shall always be inhabited, even after this sweeping wave of deceit, locusts, and lies. God will clean it up. He will restore it, but only after this deception.

 
 

Jer 46:27 But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.

God is speaking to the whole house of Israel. At this time, they were spread over the whole earth! God speaks to them, and even to us, who are the SEED of them. They were scattered over the whole earth because God was angry and let them go to worship other gods until they got their fill of them, and decided to return to the TRUE God, and THEN shall they return! Return where? To the land of Israel! When God returns to the earth this is fulfilled.

 
 

Jer 16:13 Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.

 
 

 
 

Jer 46:28 Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.

ALL the nations play a role, especially in the latter days! This describes the situation we currently live in,even in this generation!

It is the DAY OF CORRECTION, pictured in this Old Testament type, and played out to the FULL in the latter days.

Jehovah (in English) speaks to Jacob because he represents all 12 tribes of Israel. At no time did God decide “one” tribe would have all the blessing, and dispose of the rest. God addresses JACOB, even though he’s scattered over the whole earth, he addresses him as if He were speaking to Jacob in the LATTER days.

 
 

Certainly we can see in these LATTER days, that Jacob is scattered and God addresses Jacob in this very book Jeremiah. Are you listening Jacob? Don’t be confounded like the “daughter of Egypt” or meek like the heifer.

 
 

Don’t discount God’s Word addressed to both houses of Israel. This word Jeremiah covers and addresses ALL of these people, even in the latter days, that which is symbolized.

 
 

There can be NO replacement or “new prophecy” because this prophecy written in God’s word covers every inch of prophecy for the latters days, so that you might understand it PERFECTLY!
